Using Sketches

by Alissa Fast

I'm not really a sketch girl, but I wanted to challenge myself this month. What i found in my search was that sketches are really fun! There are so many options out there. There are many blogs devoted just to sketches and post weekly sketches with challenges. One really great one is Page Maps http://www.pagemaps.com/ and another is Sketch This http://janellerichmond.typepad.com/sketchthis/. I found my sketch on Scrapbooks, Etc's website. The magazines also have sketch sections on their websites. So much inspiration out there. Let's look at what the Booya Girls did with the sketch.

Shawna used only one photo, instead of the 3 on the sketch, and it looks great! She also used the journal strips like the sketch. I love that you hand journaled, Shawna!
Debbie included 3 photos and her journal strips are on the other side. Her title placement is also inspired by the sketch. What a beautiful page, Debbie!
Summer's page is gorgeous! She used 5 photos and created a similar photo strip scross the page. Summer also included journal strips on her page and the little details are just amazing.
Lacintha also used 3 photos, like the sketch, and she tilted one of them for a fun look. It really makes the focus photo stand out. This page is so fun!
I decided to go with a different size for my page, but was still inspired by the sketch. I decided to stack my photos instead of placing them side by side. I also used the journal strips. I love that look. My title placement was also inspired by the sketch.

So, if you are needing a little inspiration, go get yourself a great sketch and you'll be on your way to a great page!
