The Importance of Journaling
by Amanda Covington
Journaling.... It means so much more than we sometimes stop to realize.
Although "we" the scrappers know who, what, when, where etc... those who aren't a part of the family, or who don't see you often wont know all the little details. Journaling, no matter what form--hand written, typed out, using stickers--is a way to bring life to the picture and layout. Journaling can be as simple as jotting down the names or the date and place of the photo. Or it can become more emotional and heartfelt, actually telling the story behind the photo. One thing for sure about journaling: Months or even years down the road when your memory has faded these words will surely bring you back to that moment in time. I think the Booya Girls have done a tremendous job showing us some very heartfelt and creative ways to journal. Remember, it doesn't have to be a book, it can just be a name or date, as long as it takes you back to that moment that is long gone.
| I love how Cyndi emphasized her journaling by 1st painting her cardstock to allow it to stand out on her page. This article brought her to journal about something she has never before. |

| Debbie had super fun with her journaling, by incorporating her words inside the shape of a circle! Also something Debbie had never done until now. She highlighted some of her words with map colors to help accent with her layout colors. |

| Lacintha chose bright happy colors to offset her more serious journaling. I love how her journaling literally POPS off the page at you. I'm sure this page will take her back for years to come. |

| I chose, to scatter my journaling all over my page, using my own handwriting which I almost never do because I'm afraid it will look ugly. I'm sure some of you can relate. I decided using my own handwriting made this layout more heartfelt, since it was about their Dad's not so fortunate childhood. Hoping they will realize their blessings. |

| I love what Kristi did, journaling all around her stems and leaves of the design on her paper. What a fun and creative way to express her journaling and the story behind her photo. I mean it's not everyday a little girl puts red lipstick on a puppy dog! That's one
I am sure will be passed down for years to come!! |

I hope that the Booya Girls have inspired you to take a little extra time to tell the story behind your photo, and to leave a little bit of history behind.
