Oldies But Goodies ~ Working With Old Photos
It's fun to think back and reminisce over the good ol' days. With Scrapbooking, it becomes very clear just how important
it is to scrap our past. So, what if your photos aren't perfect? Now a days, everyone has high-tech camera's and digital prints at the touch of a button. So, sometimes I think, "Will this photo look good being a Polaroid"? "Will this photo clash with today's style of scrapbook paper"? Is this really what is important? Do you want to look back and not "remember" that orange, pink and green blanket that was your favorite, all because the photo was perhaps not in focus exactly? Or maybe your photo has some creases in it, and isnt smooth and clear? Who cares? You dont because, you know what this photo means to you. It describes a part of you, and part of your life that is now gone. Something you dont want to forget about. Parts of you , that you would like your children to know. So, when it comes to scrapping, DIG THOSE OLD PHOTOS OUT! Remember the good old days, black and white, possible dis-colored, maybe as a Polaroid... Whatever the case may be, the layout you create will mean so much more, than if those photos sat in a box or album not knowing the story behind them.
I decided to go with the traditinal old photos, and scrap them "as is". I went with scrap the sctual photo itself by glueing some paper across the bottom of the photo, to help it go along with the them and the patterns. I also of course tried to match the colors in the photo as well.

Summer, was fortunate that her mom had some amazing slides of her as a child, which she then in return had transferred to digital. She had a lot of fun playing with her photos and making the colors look vibrant by using Photoshop.
She then matched her photos to her paper and look how amazing they look!! You would never know these were taken in 1977!!

Chrys does something Ive never been able to accomplish, she designs her layouts before hand and then cleverly chooses a photo to match the layout!! After that she then adds accents that compliment her photo, that match her papers as well!
I love the story behind her photo "Chicken Pox!" |

Cyndi chose to go with black and white which will always go with most any paper. She chose papers that she felt were appropriate to the age of the photo ( a newborn) and colors that also went with her photo. She started out with a scanned version of this photo, but decided her original was much better. Oh and isnt her layout "Priceless!!".

| Alissa, AMAZING as always, she made good point.... "Love is Universal" also , Love is Timeless... She chose Scenic Route's Loveland to express words of love for her photo, which by the way she says would work whether your photo is 60 years old or just taken yesterday! |
