Making Die Cuts Fun Again

With so many choices for embellishments it doesn't take much to break your check book these days. That's one of the things I love most about die cuts. One purchase and you can get an unlimited supply of your favorite embellishment. And...it can look different every time you use it

In my layout here I used a few of the Cuttlekids dies from Provo Craft. I mixed them up and made them fun by cutting them from different patterned papers.

By using one die cut and cutting it from a different patterned paper you can change the feel of the die cut instantly.

Anne was able to get double duty out of her Paisley die cut. She used it to create the appearance of splashing water.
Using the Walk in My Garden Cricut Cartridge Kimber created this fabulous Spring layout. I love her leaf border. And even though it's a pretty basic die cut, it still looks very trendy on this layout. Her die cut bugs add just enough color to really make the layout pop and enhance the colors from her photos.
Using Asterisks, Arrows, and Frame die cuts, Shawna creating this totally hip layout. And, if you look close, you will see that she even used some of the Provo Craft Cuttlebug embossing folders to add dimension and depth to her die cuts.

By mixing patterned papers, or even using chipboard, fabric, leather, or thin metal. Your die cuts can come to life again and again. Don't be afraid to experiment. Pull out those old die cuts and make them fun again.
