This Word: Stop (June 08)

We are constantly inspired by things around us. Décor, advertisements, colour palettes, music… it’s all around us, and as scrapbookers we draw our inspiration from anything and everything.

But what about words? What about those words we see emblazoned across billboards, or those words which jump out at us from magazine pages? How do they inspire us?

For this article, I wanted to pick a word which we all see every single day. I wanted to pick a common and well known word to show how something which is around us 24/7 can inspire in such a big and dramatic way. That word is “STOP.” I saw a simple “Stop” sign while driving to the store and thought this word would be perfect for this exercise.

Let’s have a look at the ways in which the Booya girls interpreted this word:

Amanda used the word as part of a longer title in her bright and fun page. She did a great job of making the word stand out by using a larger stickers and a different colour when compared to the rest of her title.

Shawna also used the word in her title, and highlighted it by way of a different colour and font.

Coincidentally, I used the same title as Shawna did to create a very different layout. These two layouts are a great example of one singular word being used in the same manner, but inspiring two completely different themed projects.

Deb went a different route in that instead of using the word in the title, she was inspired to use it as a major part of her journaling. This is a wonderful example of your inspiration not always taking front and centre stage in your project, but inspiring in a more subtle manner.

Alissa provided another fresh approach to this word. She used it in a more “technical” manner, as part of her title.

So, as you can see, this one word provided 5 very diverse interpretations. We’d love to see your take on it ! As always, product used in the layouts are available here in the Busy Bee store.
