by Lacintha Naidoo Two Page Layouts (Mar. 08)

Two-page layouts are making a huge comeback. Remember when you first started scrapbooking? It was all about 2 pagers; sometimes even more!
We scrapped birthday parties and holidays, and they spanned over multiple pages.

But somewhere along the way, as products grew more elaborate, so did our creativity grow.
We started to experiment with more artistic styles.
We started scrapping “moments” instead of “events”, and hence we moved onto single page layouts.

Lately though, I’ve been seeing 2 page layouts more and more in publications.
Scrapbookers are trying to catch up with the events, and are trying to move back to 2 page layouts.
And you know what?
It’s not as difficult as we sometimes think!

The Booya girls have created a few 2 page layouts to, hopefully, inspire you.
Let’s see what they’ve done.

I used an 8.5 x 11 format and opted to scrap a moment. I chose double sided paper to give me a more varied look, and kept the design pretty simple. I used the same design on both pages and just switched the paper patterns around. The best part for me was that I was able to use up these pics, which I love, and tell the story with enough space to spare.

Anne managed to keep to her wonderful clean style and still make her pages pop. She had a great idea to carry one pic across both pages, to ensure the feeling of continuity.
Cyndi did a great job using up a bunch of pics which show the story so well. The larger pic on one page, and the grouping of smaller pics on the second page is a very interesting design technique.
Deb is our “Queen of the 2 Pagers”. She rocks thes out like nobody else I know. Look how many pics she used, and still managed to keep her pages uncluttered and focused.
She spread the title over both pages, top and bottom, and that ensured great continuation.

Maegan did a fabulous job using bright, colourful pictures, with just as bright papers and embellishments.
I love how she mixed and matched different sizes of pics to get all these “event” photos on the 2 pages.

So, now you’ve seen a variety of examples in scrapping 2 pagers.
Whether you want to do an event, like a birthday party or holiday; or capture a special moment, anything is possible with this format.

The best part of course is that you’re able to use up more photographs on a layout, and help decrease the ever-increasing stash J

Almost everything you see on these pages are available from the Busy Bee store.
Have fun!!!
